Flash McQueen will be at Virgin in Silverstone
Ordinarily, films prefer to promote themselves at the Monaco Grand Prix. But Silverstone has the peculiarity of taking place only a week before the release of the movie Cars 2 in the UK. That's why Disney decided to display its hero on Virgin's single-seaters.
The presence for the British race is also linked to the fact that part of the film’s action takes place in the streets of London and that the British are known for their passion for motor racing, which strengthens the impact of the partnership with the Anglo-Russian team.
Lee Jury, the vice president dedicated to marketing at Disney-Pixar studios, explains the signed partnership: «Disney Pixar is delighted that its latest animated film Cars 2 is joining Marussia Virgin Racing for the British Grand Prix. In this second installment of the highly appreciated series, our hero Lightning McQueen is joined by new characters, including Francesco, a Formula One car that will be featured on the Marussia Virgin Racing single-seaters. The comedic spy adventure also includes an action-packed race around London’s most important landmarks.»
Let’s hope this allows the team to achieve performances a bit closer to that of the Nascar champion.
