The seven-time world champion made his return in 2010 at the wheel of a Mercedes, having signed a three-year contract.

In light of the results not matching his expectations, the German driver was said to be capable of not honoring his last contractual year with the Stuttgart-based team.

Michael was keen to reassure his fans on this subject: « I have always had the choice to stop whenever I wanted. But I’ve always said that I was going for a three-year program, and that’s what I’m doing. I feel good, and we can always improve. »

He admits, however, that his return was not necessarily easy, especially at the beginning:

« It indeed took me some time to resume my work habits. Now it’s easier, even though I still need to be mindful of how to work with the team to improve the car in a way that makes me feel good. »

But according to the German champion, the best is yet to come:

« It’s a constant development and maybe I’m not yet at 100%… even if some say I could never be that again… You can always judge your performance by the car you have in your hands. It has always been that way, and it still is ».

In any case, his motivation remains intact:

« We must continue to work. It is only through work and with regular development that we can reach the heights I have already known in my career. There is no magic. It is a matter of timing, constant progress, motivation, and work ».

Here is something to silence all the rumors about his potential replacement in F1 from 2012.
