Sunday: Good operation for Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel – 2nd

I got an excellent start and, with hindsight, it wouldn’t have bothered me if there had been more rain because I really enjoyed the racing conditions when we were on intermediate tires. We seemed to be in good shape. We probably waited too long before switching to dry tires, but it was fine because we didn’t need to take risks, and we were controlling the race. During the pit stop, we had an issue – the car was already on the wheels, but we had to lift it again. From there, I lost the lead of the race and came out in third position. I struggled to overtake Lewis, I thought I could go faster, but I never really had the opportunity to do so. We got him at the pit stop, but Fernando was already far ahead. It’s a good result for us, but we had some problems, and if you’re not at your maximum, there will always be someone to beat you. Ferrari was very fast throughout the weekend, and they deserved their victory today.

Mark Webber – 3rd

« It was a mixed race: it was very slippery at the start with the intermediate tires, the track was half-dry half-wet, and we had to wait to switch to slicks to get back in the race. Michael stopped first and we were waiting to see his pace. On my way into the pits, I had a big moment at Becketts: Fernando slightly closed the door on me, I went onto the grass, so it was quite a bit of a tussle here, but we had an interesting race after that. I felt strong at the beginning of this stint, but less so towards the end of the stint – Seb and I had difficulties with the tires at the end of the race. I tried to pass him, but I didn’t succeed, and that’s racing ».

« After all, it’s a very good result today. I would have preferred that we finish first and second, but for the constructors’ championship, it’s a good team result. Unfortunately, we had a problem with the gun which cost Sebastian time, but I think we are in a good situation and we will be ready for the German Grand Prix in two weeks ».
