Saturday: Intertwined Destinies at Virgin

Timo Glock and Jérôme D'Ambrosio may be teammates, but they aren't always on the same wavelength. The German driver struggled with the wind while the Belgian driver was quite satisfied with his setup. Nevertheless, logic prevailed and D'Ambrosio was unable to place ahead of the HRTs.

Timo Glock – 21st

« It hasn’t been an easy weekend so far. Yesterday the car was good, not perfect, but we had a working base for today. However, the wind picked up this morning and it felt like it was pushing our car a bit off track. It was very difficult this morning because I didn’t have balance and really had to work on the setup. We tried a lot of different settings and I have to say my engineers did a very good job. I’m very happy with my qualifying lap. I got the most out of the car and collected a lot of data. Now we have to see why the car is more difficult to drive in these conditions. I’m still happy with my work today. »

Jérôme D’Ambrosio – 24th

« It’s not a bad Saturday at all. This morning was really good and I had a good balance with the car, but this afternoon I struggled a little because the track had changed and the car’s balance too. I had some understeer, which slowed the car down, but I felt that I was close to the car’s potential today. I’m sure I can still improve ».

« Both cars were on configurations that seemed positive during the second free practice session. This morning, while Jérôme was satisfied with the balance of his car, Timo was less so, due to the strong wind we had today. During qualifying, Jérôme kept his morning settings while Timo made significant changes to improve his balance. Both cars had clear laps and Timo was happier with the car in qualifying. We have chosen to save a set of super-soft tires for tomorrow’s race and we hope this decision will allow the cars to have a good race ».
