Cosworth can win Grand Prix races
According to Mark Gallagher, director of affairs at Cosworth, the British engine manufacturer is fully capable of winning a Grand Prix, provided it's in a good car. The company hopes to help the teams it supplies to be competitive.

Back in Formula 1 since 2010 after three seasons of absence, Cosworth hasn’t really had the opportunity to shine, enabling one pole position and scoring 73 points in thirty Grand Prix races. A partner of Team Lotus, HRT, Virgin, and Williams in 2010, the British engine manufacturer is no longer with Team Lotus this season and will not be with Williams next year, as both teams have decided to use a Renault engine.
Mark Gallagher, on behalf of Cosworth, believes that there aren’t many differences between the four current F1 engine manufacturers […] We are always listening to feedback from our teams and are exploring ways to optimize engine performance for each race. The Cosworth engine has good reliability and excellent overall performance, and I remain convinced that it has the potential to win races, with the right car.
Next season, only Marussia Virgin and HRT will be equipped by the firm. Gallagher states that these two teams will make progress: “We must continue to work hard for this season, but also look towards future developments. I believe Virgin and Hispania will take a big step forward in 2012.” The businessman added: “Virgin recently made key announcements about its technical development, particularly regarding collaboration with McLaren Applied Technologies, which shows their desire to gain places on the grid. As for HRT, they have new owners, which gives them renewed confidence in their F1 program.”
Mark Gallagher also highlights the essential role played by Cosworth in the progress of the Spanish team and the Russian team: « Both teams have made improvements during this season and continue to fight hard to close the gap with the pack. Cosworth aims to work hard on its side to help both teams and to be deeply involved in their progression ».
