Since 2009 and the introduction of the new technical regulations, Scuderia Ferrari has lost some of its luster. The 2009 F60 was clearly a disappointment, securing only one win, and it took time for the Italian team to extract the full potential of last year’s F10. This season, the scenario seems to be repeating itself, with the difference being that Red Bull is dominating much more than in 2010. The prancing horse team has entered a phase of reflection and reevaluation to come back stronger, starting in 2012.

« We are convinced that this is our last disappointing season. Jean Todt won a lot, but he had time to build a winning team. My ambition is to do the same, and I am very optimistic for the future, » explains Domenicali to the Italian newspaper Republica.

« With this Red Bull, I may seem crazy, but I am convinced that we are building the foundations of an unbeatable structure. With one policy: no single man like Red Bull with Newey, but a team. »

The 2011 championship can hardly be lost by either Vettel or Red Bull, but Ferrari still wants to believe in it and doesn’t plan to turn too quickly to 2012.

« It’s a mistake we’ve already made in the past, and we won’t make it again. Some developments on the current car can be an important basis for next year’s, » emphasizes the team principal of Ferrari.

« The crucial point is to learn how to get the most out of the tires in all conditions. Between now and November we can try different setups. We must maintain an aggressive approach even if the championship is lost.

With a 195-point deficit in the constructors’ championship, it indeed seems difficult to unseat Red Bull Racing from first place. As for Fernando Alonso, the highest-ranked in the drivers’ standings, he trails Vettel by 102 points.
