Recently, Hispania Racing Team was acquired through the Spanish subsidiary of a Japanese investment company (Nomura Group). The previous owner, Jose Ramon Carabante, therefore sold the majority of his shares to the acquiring group. However, the structure is still based in Spain and retains the same members.

According to the team’s number 1 driver, Vitantonio Liuzzi, this takeover should allow HRT to secure its future in Formula 1: At the beginning of the season, everyone was questioning our survival in F1 and our presence until the end of the year. Today, we are reassured because we have achieved a certain stability within the team, Liuzzi stated this weekend at Monza.

Moreover, the Italian driver expects a lot from the new owners, especially for 2012 and the following years: « We have often been in trouble, and I must say that this acquisition will allow us to breathe a little. I am optimistic for next year and the seasons to come. The team had fragile foundations, but the new buyers plan to develop and optimize our performance, and this is good for the future! ».

The small Iberian structure has often shown a significant development lag compared to its opponents since last season. But “Tonio” is convinced that his team will make a real leap forward as soon as the next season: « It is true that we are behind this year, especially regarding evolutions and technical development. However, I believe we can quickly make significant progress thanks to the impetus from the new buyers. We can then calmly look to the future. I have great hope for 2012! » concluded the interested party.
