After already replacing Jarno Trulli at the German Grand Prix, Karun Chandhok could make his return at the race in India.

In any case, this is the wish of the Team Lotus boss, Tony Fernandes, who sees a first-class marketing opportunity: « I would like to see him behind the wheel of one of our cars in India. The team will decide. »

If the decision to have Chandhok race is confirmed, it would allow India to have two representatives on its soil for its first Grand Prix. Indeed, earlier in the season, HRT confirmed that Narain Karthikeyan would also be racing for his national Grand Prix at the wheel of one of the Spanish cars.

Fernandes also assured that Chandhok would replace Jarno Trulli if it were to happen: «Yes, I think Heikki Kovalainen is our first driver, although Jarno qualified ahead of him at Monza»

Here’s a piece of news that would have hardly been reassuring for the Italian driver had he not been confirmed in his seat at the beginning of the week for the 2012 season. This extension of Trulli’s contract has certainly helped the fact that Chandhok is allowed to replace him once again during the season…
