Michael Schumacher praises Jenson Button
Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button crossed swords during the Italian Grand Prix in Monza last weekend. It was an opportunity for the German driver to realize the talent of the Briton.
The German Mercedes driver spoke after the Monza race about Jenson Button, with whom he had a tough battle during the Grand Prix.
If Lewis Hamilton struggled for a long time against a very defensive Schumacher, it only took a few corners for Button to get the measure of the German driver and overtake him on the outside in the Ascari curve.
This maneuver clearly impressed the seven-time world champion: « Even if he might be 2% below his best level, he remains a phenomenal talent. If he’s in the right car, he could certainly still fight for the championship. »
It is rare for Michael Schumacher to compliment one of his opponents, Jenson Button must surely appreciate the comment.
