Nick Heidfeld wants to return in 2012!
Nick Heidfeld has not completely given up on the idea of returning to Formula 1 next year. He is even quite confident about it.

The German driver lost his steering wheel at the Belgian Grand Prix and was immediately replaced by Bruno Senna.
Eric Boullier, the head of Lotus-Renault GP, questioned Heidfeld’s poor results compared to his teammate Vitaly Petrov.
The German driver, disagreeing with this decision, had unsuccessfully taken legal action against the Renault team. The contract binding the two parties is now void and Nick Heidfeld is free to join another team.
In any case, it is his wish for next season and he makes it known in the press: « I have high hopes of securing a seat next year. There are few cockpits available, but we are working towards it. We have sponsors who are willing to join us. But if money becomes the main asset to secure a seat, then I probably won’t be able to compete at that level… »
With only 16 Grand Prix races in 2 years, Heidfeld doesn’t have the most impressive portfolio on the grid. Especially after his dismissal from Lotus-Renault GP due to lack of results.
