Perez is confident ahead of his first race in Singapore

Sergio Perez is starting in Formula 1 this season and he is discovering some circuits, which will be the case for Singapore. Even though the Mexican driver had the opportunity to prepare for the race in the Sauber team’s simulator, allowing him to arrive on almost familiar ground.

Even though Singapore is the only Grand Prix run at night in Formula 1, it won’t be new for Perez, who has already raced at night when he was in GP2. The Sauber driver is approaching this weekend with confidence because he believes this circuit should suit his car, giving him hope for a top 10 finish in the race.

«I think the Singapore street circuit should suit us quite well. In fact, I haven’t raced there yet, but I’ve done a lot of work in the simulator, and knowing our car, I think we can do great things this weekend. We definitely need to score points to reclaim our sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. I’ve already raced at night in Qatar when I was in GP2. It’s really a very special feeling if you live at night and it can be fun, explains Sergio Perez.

Kamui Kobayashi’s teammate also mentioned that he would remain on European time, like the rest of the paddock, and that he would try to explore a bit of the city-state of Singapore this weekend.

I would arrive from Zurich, which means I would be coming from the European time zone, and then for the night race, you stay there, you don’t adjust to the local rhythm. Regarding the city of Singapore, I only had a quick glance during a visit, so I can’t say much about it as I only spent a few hours there. But this time, I will make sure to arrive early enough to explore it a bit more, added the Sauber driver.
