Eddie Irvine very critical of Button and Webber
Eddie Irvine did not mince his words to describe Jenson Button and Mark Webber. The former Irish driver believes that the two men are not as good drivers as some would like to say and believe.

Eddie Irvine does not see Jenson Button as an extraordinary driver and did not hesitate to say so to the German press. The former Jordan, Ferrari, and Jaguar driver believes that Button is not capable of winning a second world championship title—after the one achieved in 2009 with Brawn to everyone’s surprise—and therefore drives accordingly, without much more, in a way. The former Irish driver, now 45 years old, does not spare his teammate Lewis Hamilton either.
Jenson doesn’t do anything special. He simply does a good job. He knows he can never win another world championship title, so he drives accordingly. Lewis, on the other hand, absolutely wants to become world champion again and is too aggressive. He is not only fighting against others but also against himself; in some races, he has been simply stupid, Eddie Irvine told AutoBild Motorsport.
And since it wouldn’t be fair to target just one team on the grid, Irvine also criticized Webber who, in his opinion, is not a top driver. But the former Ferrari driver doesn’t just criticize; he also knows how to acknowledge the talent that some have, or at least that one driver possesses: Sebastian Vettel.
Irvine would even like to see the German driver paired with Hamilton at Red Bull to prove he’s better than the British driver. But as one compliment never comes alone, Eddie Irvine tempered his remarks about Vettel, pointing out that even though he was very, very good, many drivers had won a title in a car designed by Adrian Newey.
