Friday: Schumacher ahead of Rosberg at Mercedes

Disturbed both by the shortening of the first session and the red flags, the Mercedes GP program will have to continue tomorrow.

Michael Schumacher – 8th and 6th

« As usual on this type of circuit, the track is very slippery and offers little grip. It’s a shame that the session was shortened because we had a big program. But well, that’s how it is, so we tried to do our best. The overall performances are as expected: no big surprises, and the most obvious thing is the difference between the two types of tires. As for the rest, it’s too early to talk because we haven’t had time to fully analyze the practice sessions yet. I love the race here; it’s a bit like a modern Monaco, very exciting with more run-offs ».

Nico Rosberg – 10th and 15th

« It was difficult to learn things during the first free practice session due to the interruptions. However, during the second session, we were able to work a lot on the setup and learn a lot about the car. I was running with large amounts of fuel to help us understand how to prepare the car for the race. It wasn’t a perfect day but a decent day for me, and thankfully, we will be able to make more significant progress tomorrow ».
