Sunday: Schumacher in the wall at Mercedes GP
In a rather dull race, the team of the star-branded manufacturer didn't show much, trailing behind the top teams and being challenged by Force India. For Nico Rosberg, seventh place is an insufficient result. As for Michael Schumacher, he unintentionally livened up the race by bringing out the safety car following his accident.

Nico Rosberg – 7th
« The maximum today could have been a sixth place, but it didn’t work very well for us this weekend. I was struggling with worn tires in the race, and our car really doesn’t adapt to this demanding circuit. I had more degradation issues than the cars around me, which, combined with the fact that we had to change strategy when the safety car came in, didn’t allow us to do better. We cannot be happy with the result of our weekend here; we will now work hard to improve the car for the upcoming Asian races ».
Michael Schumacher – Withdrawal
It was an unfortunate end to my race in Singapore this evening and, obviously, I’m a bit disappointed. What happened is what I would call a misunderstanding between Sergio Pérez and me. He wanted to take the inside and I didn’t expect him to do it so early, and I hit him. It’s probably one of those accidents that looks more spectacular from the outside than from the inside, as I am completely unharmed and my impact with the wall wasn’t very strong. It’s a shame because the car and tires were working well and the pace was good. I’m going to focus on the upcoming races hoping for better finishes.
Ross Brawn, team director
« It was quite a tricky race for us. As expected, we didn’t have the pace to keep up with the leaders, but we weren’t too bad behind those six cars. Unfortunately, Michael’s accident was a problem both for him and for us because the safety car came out at the wrong time for our strategy. Nico still did a very good job by making sure his last set of tires lasted a little over half the race. Seventh place is more or less where we expected to be today. We are disappointed and we will continue to work hard ».
