When Lotus-Renault GP gets lost behind the safety car
Lotus-Renault GP returned without any points from their weekend in Singapore but made headlines in another way...

The Singapore Grand Prix was very tough for the Lotus-Renault GP team. Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov only managed to secure 15th and 17th place at the finish.
Furthermore, the team seemed lost after the intervention of the safety car.
On this subject, the race stewards imposed a fine of 7,500 euros on the team for providing incorrect information to its driver, Bruno Senna, after Michael Schumacher’s off-track incident brought the safety car into action.
The FIA statement on this subject is as follows: « The team failed to inform its driver of his correct position in the race, which led to an avoidable collision with car no. 17 of Sergio Pérez. »
Indeed, Eric Boullier and his team did not inform Bruno Senna that he was already a lap down from the Sauber-Ferrari. The Brazilian therefore attempted an attack on the Mexican driver which resulted in a collision, albeit minor, but real.
The performances were not up to par for Lotus-Renault GP this weekend, which Boullier described as embarrassing. There’s no doubt that this misunderstanding during the race will not ease the feeling of unease within the team after the Singapore Grand Prix.
