Franz Tost calls for “professional stewards”
Franz Tost, the team director of Toro Rosso, did not digest the penalty imposed on Jaime Alguersuari this weekend in Singapore and did not hesitate to express it in the press. According to him, Formula 1 needs "professional stewards."

Jaime Alguersuari received a drive-through penalty during the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday following contact with Jarno Trulli. However, Franz Tost, the director of Scuderia Toro Rosso, was quite upset with the stewards’ decision as he believes his driver should not have been penalized.
“It’s a joke that he was punished for trying to attack Trulli and for lightly touching him. We urgently need professional stewards,” Tost confided to the Swiss daily Blick.
To lend credibility to the decisions made, the FIA decided last year to introduce a former driver to the panel of stewards. And in Singapore, it was Heinz-Harald Frentzen who served as the fourth steward for the FIA. For Franz Tost, this does not seem to be enough.
