Force India is not in a hurry to choose its two drivers for 2012

The Force India team has not yet officially announced the names of its two drivers for the 2012 season, and Vijay Mallya, the team director, stated that he does not wish to make a decision at the moment. He prefers to focus on the sporting aspect and particularly on the possibility of securing a good position in the constructors' championship.

The Force India team has not yet made a decision on its driver duo for the 2012 season, even though Paul di Resta has a strong chance of continuing with the British-Indian team, thanks to very good performances since the beginning of the season in his first year in Formula 1.

But as for his teammate, nothing seems settled yet, with Adrian Sutil in the running to keep his place against Nico Hülkenberg, who wants to return to F1—he is currently occupying the role of the team’s third driver. However, Vijay Mallya, the team director, does not want to make any decisions about his drivers for the moment, preferring to focus entirely on the sporting aspects of the team in order to secure a good position in the constructors’ championship.

“I told them, please don’t talk to me about driver choices at the moment. We are going to focus on securing a good place in the constructors’ championship and we will talk about the rest afterwards,” Vijay Mallya told Autosport.

Mallya confided that he had been impressed by Paul di Resta’s performances, which should allow him to continue as a main driver for Force India in 2012, perhaps with a view to changing scenery by joining Mercedes.

«We have complete confidence in him, and that is why he is in the seat. We have always thought he was very talented. We had him as a third driver last year, and we said we were going to put him in a single-seater. And since then, he has made me very proud, » added Mallya.
