Button not sure to finish at McLaren
Jenson Button has signed a new contract with the McLaren Mercedes team for several years. But the British driver, world champion in 2009 with Brawn GP, stated that he still wants to race for several more years and nothing indicates that he will necessarily end his career at McLaren.

Button signed a very lucrative contract with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes – some media estimate that the Briton could earn more than 100 million dollars thanks to this new partnership that could extend over four or five years.
Many thought that Button had taken a gamble by joining McLaren in 2010 after his title with Brawn, but he ultimately held his own against Lewis Hamilton and integrated very well into the Woking team. He continuously repeats in interviews that he feels good in this team alongside Hamilton and sees no reason to leave, even though rumors have linked him to Red Bull or Ferrari.
Button is a driver who loves racing and hopes to continue driving in Formula 1 for several more years; moreover, he is only 31, which is still quite young for an F1 driver, as he is far from being the oldest on the grid. He is notably surpassed by Michael Schumacher at 42, Rubens Barrichello with 39 candles, and Jarno Trulli who is 37. The British driver explained to Reuters that despite this new contract, he would not necessarily end his career at McLaren.
« I was asked ‘Is this my last contract?’ and two years ago, I would probably have said yes. Even last year, I would probably have thought so. But time moves on and I think that decision (to stop F1) will come eventually. So yes, it could be the case (his last contract) or it might not be the case. I don’t know,» explained Button to Reuters.
It is still a safe bet that the McLaren team will do what it takes to retain an experienced driver like Button, who can be a great help in developing a car, for example, or when track conditions are tricky.
