Rosberg negotiates with Ferrari for 2013
Felipe Massa's contract with Ferrari ends at the end of 2012, and it seems increasingly likely that the Brazilian driver will not stay with the team for the 2013 season. After rumors suggesting Jules Bianchi or Sergio Pérez as replacements for the Brazilian driver, it is now Nico Rosberg's turn to reportedly inquire about a possible seat with the team.

Rosberg has a contract with the Mercedes team until the end of the 2012 season, and the German team would like to extend their young prodigy until the end of the 2016 season. Negotiations are reportedly underway according to several media outlets, but according to Marca, Nico Rosberg would like to wait before signing his contract as he is considering joining Ferrari.
The Italian team should have a free seat in 2013, and it seemed promised to Sergio Perez – who races for Sauber, which is powered by Ferrari and is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. But the Mexican driver might have a strong rival as Rosberg, perhaps tired of not having a sufficiently competitive car to fight for wins and the title at Mercedes, might be tempted to look elsewhere.
On the Mercedes GP side, efforts seem to be made to extend Rosberg’s contract as quickly as possible, as he will be the designated leader of the team in the future because Schumacher might not stay in Formula 1 much longer. Norbert Haug revealed that Rosberg’s contract lasts until the end of 2012, also adding, as quoted by Marca, that he wished to extend Keke Rosberg’s son even beyond that date.
