6th place in the sights for Sauber
With promising performances throughout the 2011 season, Sauber is determined to finish in 6th place in the constructors' championship. This position is currently held by Force India, which has a nine-point lead over the small Swiss team.

The year, however, has not been easy for the Sauber team. They had held the 6th place until the Belgian Grand Prix, before it was taken over by Force India. Since then, the team owned by Peter Sauber has been regularly scoring points and clinging to that position.
According to the general manager, Monisha Kaltenborn, the 2011 season was relatively satisfactory: « All things considered, I am quite happy with our season, especially when I think about the obstacles we had to overcome since 2009 to return to F1. » Indeed, after BMW’s withdrawal, things had not been easy for Monisha and Peter Sauber.
The team based in Hinwil was nevertheless able to count on talented drivers who managed to get the most out of the C30: Kamui Kobayashi continued his exceptional driving, and Sergio Pérez, the rookie, has certainly proven to be a good pick for Sauber, in whom they found a consistent and fast driver. The results were therefore able to improve: « Our goal for 2011 was to do better than in 2010. We had a good first half overall, even though, subsequently, several factors led to us losing points and standings,” said Monisha Kaltenborn.
She is certain that the 6th place is still achievable for her team as there are 3 races left: « It is clear that we can regain this 6th place that we lost to Force India », she concluded.
The whole team is now flying to the inaugural Grand Prix of India and hopes that the harvest of points will be good to achieve this goal.
