Force India drivers for 2012 soon to be announced?

While Vijay Mallya wanted to make a decision on his drivers for 2012 after the end of the season, he might be compelled to do so as early as next week following Adrian Sutil's statements. The German driver expressed that he did not want to wait until December to know his future with the Indian team. And the Sahara Force India team boss might grant his driver's request by making a decision in the coming days.

Vijay Mallya did not want to have to deal with the battle for sixth place in the constructors’ championship and the future of his drivers. The boss of the Sahara Force India team therefore wanted to focus on the championship and then think about his two drivers for 2012. But the situation is likely to change because Adrian Sutil, who is not sure whether he will remain with the Indian team, wants an answer about his future sooner than December.

The announcement could come in December, but as a driver, I need a decision before this date to secure my future in Formula 1. That’s why I’m trying to ensure a decision is made in the next two to three weeks, to make sure I will still be a Formula 1 driver in 2012, Adrian Sutil told the official Formula 1 website.

The request of the German driver has been heard and Vijay Mallya stated that a decision could be made in the coming weeks or even days, as discussions are expected to begin this weekend in India once the Grand Prix is over.

I set December as a deadline, but Adrian asked me to think about it sooner and I respect that. We will discuss it after the race and then we will make a decision, Vijay Mallya told BBC Sport.

If Paul di Resta seems likely to stay for another season with the Force India team, this is not the case for Adrian Sutil, who could be replaced by Nico Hülkenberg, who has been the third driver for the team since the beginning of the year.
