Sunday: Mercedes GP is all smiles

Mercedes GP finished the Indian weekend in style by securing big points at the finish. The drivers showed a high race pace, allowing them to reach the first part of the Top 10. Michael Schumacher, who started 12th, finished 5th. He was ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg, who started from the 7th position on the grid.

Michael Schumacher – 5th

« I am obviously very happy with the result today because we gave our maximum! In addition, the settings were perfect and the car was very stable from the first to the last lap. At the beginning of the race, everything went as my strategy predicted. I was able to gain a few places on the straight in the first lap, thanks to the KERS. Then, I managed to maintain the condition of my tires and that was enough to secure the 5th position. We must now continue to push our efforts and constantly improve until the end. Finally, I would like to say a big congratulations to the organizers of this first Indian Grand Prix, which was, according to everyone, a success! »

Nico Rosberg – 6th

« We can be happy because the result is fully deserved by all team members. I gained a position compared to my starting grid place, and I am very satisfied with that! However, my strategy was not perfect as I lost time in the second pit stop, while Michael took the lead. At the end of the race, the pace was good, but even pushing to the maximum, I couldn’t catch up with him. I am very confident that we can repeat this performance in the last two races. I hope all the fans enjoyed this first Indian Grand Prix, and I look forward to returning next year! »

Ross Brawn – Mercedes GP Director

The drivers performed a very solid race here and we are all very happy to have secured 5th and 6th place. Michael, Nico, and the engineers did a great job which allowed us to have an excellent car and manage the tires well. Our drivers delivered an exciting race! It’s a very good result for the team today and I am extremely satisfied with the work done this weekend.
