Red Bull not thrilled with Vettel’s fastest lap in India
Sebastian Vettel achieved a 'Grand Chelem' on Sunday at the Indian Grand Prix, securing pole position, leading for 60 laps, and recording the fastest lap in the race. However, his team moderately appreciated his setting of the fastest lap in the final lap of the race.

Sebastian Vettel had set the fastest lap during the race two weeks ago in South Korea, even though his team had asked him not to, and he repeated this on Sunday in India, once again after the team had asked him not to push the machinery too hard.
Despite our incessant requests not to do so, he managed to set a new fastest lap on the last lap of the race, Christian Horner revealed after the race.
The director of the Red Bull Racing team also stated that the team had turned off the KERS of Vettel’s car and lowered the engine speed when Vettel set the fastest lap during the final lap of the first Indian Grand Prix.
Horner is not the only one displeased with Vettel’s attitude – even if the German driver needs to find new motivations considering his crazy season this year. Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s sporting advisor, has not been pleased with the attitude of his young protégé.
« It was not the time to take unnecessary risks. We told him repeatedly, but sometimes he doesn’t seem to listen, » Marko confided.
Vettel’s best lap combined with Christian Horner’s statements had the merit of raising questions in the paddock, especially for Alexander Wurz, a former F1 driver who now comments on Formula 1 for Austrian television.
« They are not worried that he might have an accident. They are afraid that other teams will be alarmed by their performances and will go to the FIA to complain that the car must be illegal. I see this more as a political concern than a sporting one, » Wurz confided.
