Grosjean does not worry Petrov and Senna

As announced by the Lotus-Renault GP team a few days ago, French driver Romain Grosjean, this year's GP2 champion, will participate in Friday practice sessions for the last two Grand Prix of the season. This doesn't seem to worry Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna.

The current main drivers of Lotus-Renault GP, Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna, are calm about the arrival of reserve driver Romain Grosjean on the Fridays of the last two Grand Prix of the season.

The Frenchman will take Senna’s place in Abu Dhabi and Petrov’s place in Brazil for the first practice sessions of the weekend.

The Russian driver has also confirmed that he has a contract for the 2012 season: «I am comfortable, I have my place for 2012. I think it’s a very good opportunity for Romain, to give him a few laps during testing. At least we already know the track, so it’s not a big problem. If this had happened in India, then yes, it would have been more difficult. I think it’s a good chance for him to try and then for the team to assess him. I know it’s too short a time to completely analyze his performance, but at least he can learn what to do behind the wheel of an F1.»

Bruno Senna shares the same perspective as his counterpart, even though he highlights the existing competition among the three Lotus-Renault GP drivers: « I think I don’t lose much by not driving on Friday morning, as the track is often dusty in Abu Dhabi at that time. So it should be good to jump in the car in the afternoon and do a good job with my guys. That’s competition, but competition is there every time you’re in the car, so there’s nothing wrong with that.»

Petrov and Senna therefore seem confident for the future, but everything remains on hold until the decision regarding Robert Kubica by the end of the year at Lotus-Renault GP…
