A Honda turbo V6 for McLaren in 2014?
McLaren could reunite with Honda from 2014 as an engine supplier, according to a German magazine. The British team, whose contract with Mercedes is ending soon, might be tempted to reform its famous duo with Honda.

McLaren has an engine supply contract with Mercedes for free engine provision until the end of 2012. The two companies have been working together since 1995, but the British team might be tempted to seek a change from 2014 with the introduction of V6 turbo engines in Formula 1.
According to *Auto Motor und Sport*, McLaren might pay for the supply of the Mercedes-Benz engine in 2013 before reforming its famous duo with Honda starting in 2014. Honda began powering McLaren in 1988, with both parties securing four constructors’ titles in four years, and in the fifth year, the team finished in second place, marking a more than fruitful partnership between the two. The McLaren-Honda duo also enabled Ayrton Senna to win his three world championship titles, while Alain Prost owes one of his four crowns to this association.
A source within the Japanese manufacturer and engine supplier revealed to the German publication that a return of Honda to Formula 1 as an engine supplier is being considered and is already in the pipeline. Only the green light from the board of directors is needed for Honda to develop a V6 Turbo engine for F1.
