Saturday: Nothing exciting for Kobayashi and Pérez
The two Sauber drivers may face a difficult race starting from the back of the grid. Kamui Kobayashi, in 16th, and Sergio Pérez, in 17th, will however be able to rely on their good tire management over long distances...

Kamui Kobayashi – 14th and 16th
Overall, the weekend here is a bit difficult for us. We worked on improving the balance of the car in every session and there were some improvements. But unfortunately, not enough to allow us to push fully. It was really a struggle every lap. It was quite hard to reach the second part of qualifying, as even in Q1 it was difficult to heat up the tires. However, tomorrow, many things will depend on the weather conditions and we’ll see what we can do.
Sergio Pérez – 16th and 17th
It was a rather disappointing qualification given the result of the Toro Rosso, our direct competitors, who find themselves ahead of us. The main problem for me was the inconsistency of the car: every lap was different, and it was impossible for me to get the right tire temperature. However, we will not give up. If the weather changes tomorrow, anything can happen!
Giampaolo Dall’Ara – Track Engineer
« It is obviously not the result we wanted, but we reached our limits today. In the end, our two drivers were at the same level. We had a session without any major problems, but the performance simply did not allow us to finish higher on the grid. For tomorrow, there is a strong chance of rain, and we will certainly be ready to make up for lost time during the race. »
