No more than five races in Europe in the future
Bernie Ecclestone indicated that there will probably be no more than five F1 Grand Prix organized in Europe in the future. The FOM boss prefers to develop Formula 1 internationally because he believes that the old continent is no longer the center of F1.

Bernie Ecclestone has continuously developed new destinations for Formula 1 over the years with Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, India, South Korea, and China, among others. The United States will also return from 2012, in Austin if all goes well, followed by Russia in 2014.
The head of FOM doesn’t intend to stop there, he revealed in the Spanish press that he is considering a return of Formula 1 to South Africa and also to Mexico.
« Russia for sure (we will go), we have a contract. South Africa, maybe. Mexico … My problem is that I think Europe is finished no matter what happens. It’s a good place for tourism but for the rest less so. Europe is somewhat a part of the past. I think that in the coming years, there will only be five events in Europe, » Bernie Ecclestone told Marca.
South Africa has often been cited as a new probable destination for Formula 1, and Alan van der Merwe, former South African Formula 1 driver, would be delighted to see Formula 1 return to his country.
I would love to see that happen. I wish it had happened when I was in F1, it would have changed a lot of things for me. In the last ten years, there has always been one or more projects to try to have a Formula 1 Grand Prix in South Africa, said the current medical car driver to GPUpdate.net.
