Thanks to his 6th place finish at the Brazilian Grand Prix and a modest 10th place for Petrov, Adrian Sutil surpassed the Russian driver in the driver standings. The Force India driver finished 9th behind the Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes drivers—he is therefore what one might call “the best of the rest.”

The German is delighted with this result and also with his season – this 6th place is indeed his best result of the year, with an identical result at the Nurburgring.

«I am really very happy with this result, it’s nice to finish well, and it equals my best result of the season. It’s really great. I think it was the right time for this result and now I will think about the winter break, and I will enjoy my free time! » explained Adrian Sutil.

Sutil believes that this 9th place in the drivers’ championship is a great achievement not only for him but also for the entire Force India team.

I’m just behind the best teams, and I think it’s really very impressive for the Force India car. The whole team should be proud of the performance achieved this season, especially after our difficult start. The team was sixth in the constructors’ championship, close to Renault at the end, and with our resources, beating Mercedes in some races was a great effort.

After “only” 10 points in 9 races, Adrian Sutil recovered well in the second half of the season, scoring 32 points in 10 races, and the German driver is delighted to have gotten back into a good rhythm.

I had a difficult start to the season: the car wasn’t that good and I had some personal issues at times. I also struggled with the new tires. But I came back, and from Canada, it was very good. I think it’s even more rewarding when you manage to bounce back like that, added the Force India driver.

Adrian Sutil’s future probably does not lie with Force India, so delivering a strong performance in Brazil was important for him to convince other teams that he is still competitive. He seems well-positioned to replace Rubens Barrichello at Williams, and he could also land at LRGP, although that seems less likely.
