Kevin Ceccon made his debut at the wheel of a Formula 1 car in Abu Dhabi during the young driver tests. He was chosen by Scuderia Toro Rosso to drive alongside Stefano Coletti – even though neither of them is part of the Red Bull junior driver program.

The young Italian, who recently celebrated his 18th birthday, was racing in Auto GP this season – where he has also won the title. He also made his debut in GP2, becoming the youngest driver to participate in a GP2 meeting.

He should not be a full-time F1 driver next year – given his limited experience in single-seaters, having only started in single-seaters in 2009. But he hopes to sign with an F1 team to drive during Friday’s free practice sessions.

According to the Italian magazine Autosprint, he is reportedly in negotiations with three teams for 2012: Toro Rosso, with whom he tested in Abu Dhabi, Caterham F1, and also HRT.
