Narain Karthikeyan remains hopeful

Narain Karthikeyan has not yet completely ruled out his presence in Formula 1 for the 2012 season. He remains confident of securing one of the remaining seats at Williams or HRT.

The first Indian driver in history made his debut with Jordan in 2005. After a long break away from the circuits, Narain Karthikeyan made his return in 2011 with the HRT team as a teammate of Vitantonio Liuzzi.

If the Spanish team has already confirmed Pedro de la Rosa as a starter, there is still a free spot that Liuzzi seems sure to obtain.

Indeed, the Italian driver has repeatedly stated that his contract spans several years, without providing further details.

However, Kathikeyan believes he has good opportunities to find a seat for 2012: « To be honest, things have progressed a bit slowly with the Christmas and end-of-year holidays. But with the end of the winter break, we will be able to move forward in our discussions and soon finalize them. »

The Indian driver also leaves the door open to Williams: There are still a few seats available. I think it’s still quite open. We hope to have the best opportunity. It’s about bringing together a lot of elements to succeed…we’ll see…
