Ecclestone in favor of a Valence-Barcelona alternation
Bernie Ecclestone, the head of FOM, thinks that an alternation between Barcelona and Valencia could be implemented in the future.

Bernie Ecclestone wants only one Formula 1 Grand Prix to be organized per country in Europe – this has notably ended the project for a Grand Prix on the streets of Rome. This uniqueness should also put an end to one of the races organized by Barcelona and Valencia as both are held in Spain.
The European Grand Prix could therefore disappear from the calendar, and Valencia could host the Spanish Grand Prix alternately with Barcelona – which would help reduce the costs for both circuits to host F1 in these times of crisis. Bernie Ecclestone finds the idea interesting, in any case.
« What was discussed is that Barcelona would like to have an alternation with them (Valencia). Maybe it’s a good thing. Maybe that’s what needs to be done, » Bernie Ecclestone told the Financial Times.
The government of Valencia has been searching for several weeks for a way to reduce the costs of its Grand Prix, and while an alternation had already been considered, Valencia had refused the offer. But things might finally change, and Bernie Ecclestone might succeed in convincing them of the merits of such a partnership.
