Eighteen years after his uncle Ayrton, Bruno Senna will find himself behind the wheel of a Williams-Renault in a race.

After the tragic outcome of the association between the British team and Ayrton in 1994, which resulted in the death of the Brazilian idol, Bruno’s family might have had concerns about this announcement of his appointment for 2012.

Bruno, on the contrary, claims that he has the full support of his entire family for this new stage in his career: « Everyone is ecstatic; I spoke to my grandparents before speaking to my mother. My grandmother was so happy, and my grandfather had a big smile. In the family, everyone is happy, everyone worked hard to get here, it’s really a family endeavor. We have a great unity, and everyone is super happy. »

Senna expects to have a lot of pressure within the Grove team: « It’s been a constant in my career. I’ve often been in the spotlight, and it’s never been a problem. I learned the hard way and with pressure. Last year, at certain times, it set me on the right track »

His signing with Williams has hastened his compatriot Rubens Barrichello’s exit. But according to Bruno, it won’t change their very good relationship: « I haven’t had the chance to speak to him yet. But Rubens and I have a very good relationship. It’s motor racing, it’s sport. When one person is lucky, another inevitably is less so. There are no personal feelings about it, it’s just sport. Rubens is aware of that. »
