Barrichello will enjoy time with his family
Rubens Barrichello, who has just been replaced by Bruno Senna as the main driver for the Williams team, says that his future remains open for a return to competitive racing. However, he will use this year to get closer to his family.
While the announcement of Bruno Senna’s appointment happened yesterday, the first consequence is the forced retirement of his compatriot Rubens Barrichello.
Indeed, it seems unlikely that Rubens would seek to secure the last available seat, that of a modest HRT. He himself confirms it: « I think at first I won’t look for anything. Maybe I’ll enjoy my family for a year. After that, I believe my passion for speed won’t allow me to stay idle for long. »
However, Barrichello promised his wife not to race in the United States, particularly on ovals, which are known to be very dangerous as the recent tragedy of Don Wheldon has proven.
The Brazilian, although close to Tony Kanaan, does not consider a switch to IndyCar: « It is certain that I will not race on American ovals. I promised my wife, and I will keep my word. »
