Alonso: Hamilton is better than Vettel
Even though Sebastian Vettel is the reigning double world champion, Fernando Alonso believes he is not yet at the level of Lewis Hamilton.

Many observers and drivers believe that despite his two world championship titles in 2010 and 2011, Sebastian Vettel is not the best driver on the grid – Alonso is often mentioned as the best driver.
Fernando Alonso also thinks that Vettel is not the best on the grid. After stating during the Wroom that Robert Kubica was the strongest driver in the world, the Ferrari driver declared in the German press that Lewis Hamilton, whom he teamed with at McLaren in 2007, is slightly above Vettel. The Spanish driver did not wish to position himself in relation to his two rivals.
Lewis is so fast, aggressive, totally focused. He is only interested in victory. Sebastian has not yet reached this level. I know he is a double world champion, but he is still slightly below Lewis’s level, Alonso explained to Sport Bild.
Even though Lewis Hamilton experienced a difficult 2011 season, Fernando Alonso believes he hasn’t lost any of his qualities. The British driver could therefore be a title contender in 2012, just like Alonso—provided both have a car capable of challenging the new Red Bull—and just like Vettel, who will likely be eager to further leave his mark on F1 history by becoming the youngest triple world champion.
