Tom Blomqvist joins the McLaren sphere
McLaren is actively preparing for the future. After promoting Kevin Magnussen within its young driver development program, the Woking team has decided to appoint another former driver's son, Tom Blomqvist, to the same program.

The British driver has distinguished himself during his young career as the youngest winner of the British Formula Renault at just 16 years old. He achieved this title even younger than Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Räikkönen. The Finn even managed to make his F1 debut the year after winning this title, whereas the young Briton was promoted to Formula 3, where many current F1 drivers have cut their teeth. His performance in 2010 earned him the prestigious BRDC Henry Surtees Award for the most impressive performance by a young driver.
He will therefore be able to benefit from McLaren’s expertise in advancing young drivers to the top. This support will be reflected in guidance for off-track activities (media management and public relations). This support will complement that already provided by his father, the 1984 rally world champion Stig Blomqvist.
