Angry Birds sponsors Heikki Kovalainen
You may have already played it, but we hope, in any case, that Heikki Kovalainen wouldn't think of trying it during a race: Angry Birds is coming to F1 and will sponsor the Finnish driver whose helmet will be adorned with a design featuring the star bird from Rovio's video game.

For almost two years, a video game initially intended for the iPhone and eventually developed for all types of platforms such as Android or Microsoft has become a global success: it is, of course, Angry Birds. The concept is simple: using a slingshot and birds with various powers, you must destroy structures made of all kinds of materials to eliminate the evil green pigs that steal eggs.
Rovio, the Finnish company behind the game, is experiencing success with this concept, allowing it to make an entrance in the rather exclusive world of Formula 1. And what better than a driver from the land of a thousand lakes to proudly display the colors of the angry birds. That’s why, this season, Caterham driver Heikki Kovalainen will be an ambassador for Rovio. This partnership is especially evident through the creation of a helmet with original decorations, featuring the design and colors of the red bird from the game.
« This is an important partnership on different levels. It’s the first time I’m working with a video game company, and it aligns with my desire to focus on partnerships with unique brands. As a Finn, I am also happy to represent the colors of a Finnish company on a global platform. Most importantly, I am a big fan of Angry Birds! » explained Kovalainen. For Rovio, represented by Harri Koponen, the enthusiasm is palpable: « We are very excited to work with Heikki on this, the first partnership of its kind in F1. The helmet looks fantastic and we believe people will love the game. » A game will indeed be launched later in the year with racing as its main theme.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Angry Birds and Formula 1 have been associated, as in the original game, one of the levels was actually a tribute to one of the Finnish champions of the discipline, Keke Rosberg. He was represented by a mustached green pig, behind the wheel of a wooden F1 car installed at the top of a structure indicating « 1982 », the season at the end of which Nico’s father was crowned World Champion.
