Friday: Mercedes and Schumacher Relatively Optimistic
With both of its cars in the top 4 of each session, Mercedes seems to position itself as the second strongest team on the grid in terms of pure performance. However, the pace over long stints will be crucial and is a focus area for the brand with the star.

Michael Schumacher – 4th and 2nd
We had a good day on the track and I am very happy with the work done since Australia. It allowed us to achieve good quality long runs, which is obviously very important in these conditions. That said, we also know that everyone is working on different programs on Fridays, so we haven’t seen anything yet. We are aware that we shouldn’t be too optimistic about today.
Nico Rosberg – 3rd and 4th
« We got off to a good start today for what is one of our home races, so I’m quite happy. We’ve learned a lot about how to use the tires, and I feel that things are going in the right direction, but I don’t know where we stand compared to the others. It will be interesting to see how we manage the situation on Sunday. »
