Friday: HRT on the upswing
If the feelings are mixed, with Narain Karthikeyan focusing on the negative while Pedro de la Rosa prefers to focus on the positive, one thing is certain: the car has improved. The work must continue to ensure participation in the race.
Narain Karthikeyan – 23rd and 23rd
« In the morning session, we experienced reliability issues, the same as in Melbourne, though not as severe, and we also had some cooling problems. In the afternoon, these issues persisted in turns 13 and 14 where we were unable to shift gears properly, but the important thing is that we are below the 107% and that we can continue to improve and be in better conditions. This is one of the most challenging races of the year so we need to work hard to be able to perform well. »
Pedro de la Rosa – 24th and 24th
« The day was positive for us because everything went as planned for a testing session; that’s good news in itself. For the first time, we were able to try several solutions on the car: the DRS works, the power steering has improved since Australia, and even though we are not where we want to be, we have made a considerable step forward. The sensations are coming back as the day progresses, and the car’s behavior has improved between this morning and this afternoon. There is still much to do, but overall, the day was positive. »
