Saturday: Force India not far, but in its place

If their times are not far off from those of their predecessors, Force India remains among the last teams in terms of pure performance. A situation that doesn't overly alarm the drivers, aware that their race pace may allow them to hope for better.

Paul di Resta – 13th and 15th

« It was a very tight qualifying session, especially in Q2 where finding a few tenths would have allowed us to gain five places on the grid. My lap in Q2 was good and I think I got the most out of the car, but it’s only fifteenth place, six-tenths behind the best time of the session. I’m still optimistic for the race because the car seems well-suited for the track and we looked strong during the long runs yesterday, so I think we’ll be able to compete with the teams ahead of us. »

Nico Hülkenberg – 11th and 16th

« It was a pretty tough qualifying session for us, but I think the conditions have changed since practice and I didn’t feel as comfortable with the car. My last Q2 lap was a bit compromised due to traffic coming out of the pits, but I think 16th place reflects the pace that is ours at the moment and the fact is that all the teams around us are very close in terms of lap performance. We’re going to think a lot about strategy tonight and try to do our best to move up in the race. I started 16th in Malaysia and finished in the points, so I’ll hope to repeat that performance.
