Interlagos proposes a new paddock for 2013
It's a project that has been talked about for many years. It seems we are now entering the implementation phase: Interlagos plans to build an entirely new paddock for F1, which would be available from 2013.

If the Sao Paulo circuit is unanimously recognized as a fair test for drivers and mechanics, it is also well known that its infrastructure is far from the best in the world. Thus, the condition of the paddock and the track are subject to recurring criticism.
To address the first criticism, local authorities have decided to create a brand new stands/paddock complex. This will be located in the long straight following the Senna S. It will be exclusively available for F1, while other disciplines would use the existing complex.
As for the danger of the track, work is planned to build a chicane in the Curva do Café, the big curve that leads drivers to the current pit straight. However, there is very little chance that this chicane will be used by Formula 1 as it is one of the important points of the circuit. Nevertheless, the two fatal accidents that have occurred in recent years in other disciplines justified this modification for vehicles less advanced than F1 single-seaters.
If this development work is to start this year, it will only be completed in time for the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix.
