Sunday: Toro Rosso lacked pace
Already qualifying quite far on the grid, the Toro Rosso cars lacked race pace to compete for points. Daniel Ricciardo, stuck at the start, and Jean-Eric Vergne, whose race was spoiled by a limiter issue causing a penalty, leave North America empty-handed.

Daniel Ricciardo – 14th:
« I finished where I started. I got a good start off the grid outside the trajectory, but there was really nowhere to go, so I decided to go inside at turn 1, which put me outside of turn 2, where I tried to go around a few cars in front of me. But there wasn’t as much grip as I expected and it cost me a few positions. From there, I had a lot of work since it put me in a bad position. In the second part of the race, I couldn’t run at the pace of those I was fighting against. We are not fast enough to climb higher at the moment, so we must not give up, but continue to work hard to try to improve. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 15th:
« It wasn’t a very good weekend for me for my first visit to Canada regarding what happened on the track, although I enjoyed the circuit and the time spent here. I qualified 20th yesterday and finished 15th today. It’s really not an easy circuit with the walls so close, and you have to push very hard on every lap, and from that point of view, the afternoon was fine, but the result is, of course, disappointing. Serving a penalty for speeding in the pit lane didn’t help, and it happened because, when coming in for a pit stop, I had an issue with the limiter, which we will need to investigate. The strategy? I don’t believe we could have done anything differently. »
