After the time of confirmation, which came with his victory at the Chinese Grand Prix at the beginning of the season, Nico Rosberg has moved on to a time of ambitions. He has always possessed great self-confidence, but this season, he also believes he has the car that will allow him to satisfy his thirst for victory, as he expresses on the German site of Sport1: « The Mercedes is the fastest car at the moment. I have the feeling we can win every race. »

At the world drivers’ championship, Rosberg is 21 points behind the leader Lewis Hamilton. But, despite his relatively poor performance in Canada (starting 5th, he crossed the line in 6th position), he remains optimistic: « Yes, Canada was a small step back, but the title is still within reach. »

Some observers believe, however, that in the Valencia heat, Rosberg and Mercedes might face the same difficulties as in Montreal during the last Grand Prix. This is denied by Norbert Haug, sports director of the Starred Firm: “Nico’s pace in Canada, with track temperatures around 40 degrees, clearly shows that the car can perform well in extreme conditions. The goal is to continue this trend.”

An opinion also shared by Ross Brawn: « The possibilities available to our drivers, if we provide them with a reliable car and a perfect weekend, are clear. »

Norbert Haug, for his part, does not hesitate to point out that if the championship had started in China, Nico Rosberg would currently be leading the drivers’ standings. Indeed, the German is the one who has scored the most points during this period. Consistency that could well pay off.
