Massa is helped by a psychologist
Felipe Massa admitted to having the support of a psychologist in recent months to break free from the mental vicious cycle he was in.

Felipe Massa’s performances at the wheel of the Ferrari have often been criticized since his terrible accident at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2009. The Brazilian hasn’t been on the podium since the Korean Grand Prix in October 2010, and his results at the beginning of this season have been erratic to the point that his fourth place at Silverstone last weekend was received as a relief by those around him.
Meanwhile, his teammate Fernando Alonso is fighting for the lead in the world championship and has already secured two victories. Massa’s position has been under threat for several weeks, even though his form seems to be improving over the last few races.
To get out of this difficult situation, the Brazilian admitted to having resorted to a psychologist: « Poor results have an influence on the psychological side. I found a psychologist and committed to therapy with him. I will try everything until the end because I know things can change. »
The 2008 world runner-up, however, rejects the notion that his 2009 accident has an influence on his results today: « I’m not stupid. I’m tired of still thinking about it. Not only have I thought about it enough, but on top of that, I’ve had 45,000 exams and all the doctors concluded that it hadn’t affected my performance at all. »
Felipe Massa would need a little more support, particularly from the Brazilian press which, according to him, has turned its back on him at 99%.
