Friday: Red Bull adapted to the conditions

In difficult conditions, ranging from a completely dry track to a circuit littered with rivers, Red Bull set out to do their best, regretting the lack of running possible on the dry, while conserving Wet tires given the forecasts for the rest of the weekend.

Sebastian Vettel – 12th and 3rd:

We couldn’t learn much today, so we just acclimated to the conditions, as it might rain tomorrow and Sunday. The forecasts are not fantastic. It would have been nice to have more running on dry conditions, especially this afternoon to test a few things and see how the car behaves – it’s hard to have a good baseline when conditions are changing. We need to save Rain tires for tomorrow and Sunday, so we tried to limit running on these tires.

Mark Webber – 20th and 9th:

« It was a bit surreal. We didn’t expect rain to be this bad today, but at times it was quite intense – we even used the Rain tires. This is the second race in a row with tricky conditions. We haven’t been able to drive much on dry surface yet, but it seems that Sunday’s weather will be slightly better. We needed to check the grip conditions since the asphalt and the layout are different from Silverstone. We tried a few new parts today. In terms of lap times, it was all over the place, and there were some incidents, but we did everything we could in this session. »
