Friday: Rain thwarts Marussia’s plans

Due to insufficient dry track testing time, Marussia has still not been able to conduct an in-depth evaluation of the new parts introduced at Silverstone. In addition to encountering an issue at the very end of Free Practice 1, Timo Glock is once again facing instability issues with his MR01.

Timo Glock – 22nd and 15th:

Unfortunately, today did not turn out as we expected in terms of weather. I thought we would have more stable conditions. Overall, it was again difficult with such varied conditions. In Free Practice 1, I struggled a bit with the car for the same reasons as at the beginning of the Silverstone weekend, so I fought instability, and unfortunately, towards the end, we had an issue that cut our morning session short; not enough to make a difference, fortunately. Free Practice 2 was still wet and we started on Rain tires. The car was still very nervous and oversteering. I think we could have been a bit faster but the instability issues are making it a bit difficult at the moment. We need to look at this more closely, and I hope we find the source of the problem in the evening to see what we can do to improve tomorrow.

Charles Pic – 21st and 14th:

« It was a good day for me in these changing conditions. What we lost in planned dry program, we gained in experience on a wet track in case the next days are similar. This morning, for my part, we carried out some aerodynamic evaluations to progress our recent update. I lost a bit of time at the start due to a radio problem, but I was quite happy with my pace when I was able to start driving. This afternoon, we were able to test both types of wet tires, but it was a bit frustrating that the rain was so changeable as we could not carry out any detailed evaluation. »
