McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has no doubt that Lotus-Renault will win a Grand Prix in 2012. According to him, the next race in Belgium at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit could be the ideal venue.

Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean often came close to victory without managing to clinch it, as seen in the last Hungarian Grand Prix won by Hamilton. The latter thinks it was a close call and that the Lotus cars almost stole the victory on that occasion: « We were fast, but if the two Lotus cars had qualified on the front row, they would have won. »

The 2008 world champion hopes that McLaren will introduce some improvements to their car to counter the developments of Lotus, who will be using their double DRS system for the first time in Belgium: « It would be nice to have a comfortable race where Jenson and I could stay ahead and thus achieve a one-two finish. But that will only be possible if we have more performance in the car, and we are going to work towards that. I’m really hoping we will have an upgrade for Spa. I’m really going to press on that because I believe Lotus will come to Belgium with some upgrades. I have no doubt that they will manage to win at some point. If not at Spa, then somewhere else. So we have to make sure to follow their developments. »
