Friday: Caterham blocked by rain
On this rainy Friday over Spa, and with the weather expected to be more favorable for the rest of the weekend, the entire lineup opted to play it safe. Caterham was no exception, with Vitaly Petrov even skipping the afternoon session.

Heikki Kovalainen – 18th and 13th:
« It is obviously good to be back racing, but it’s a shame to start with such weather. Spa is famous for its weather, but I don’t remember seeing it rain so hard for such a long time, so there’s not much to say after this shortened day. It seems that tomorrow should be dry, so I think we can do more laps in Free Practice 3, but with Spa weather, you can never predict. »
Vitaly Petrov – 14th and 22nd:
« Above all, it’s really good to restart the season and come to Spa, reconnect with the team, and get back in the car. Even though the weather was clearly bad in Free Practice 1, we managed to complete a good percentage of the program and the car seemed pretty well balanced in the first laps. In Free Practice 2, we were monitoring the weather throughout the session and as it progressed, the rain was falling heavier than ever, so we decided not to risk running. I made the strategic choice to stay warm in the motorhome, wearing two sweaters and a few jackets and keeping as far away from the rain as possible! »
