Friday: Mercedes learned in the rain
On a Friday not conducive to development and setup work, Mercedes nonetheless believes it has learned interesting things about its F1 W03. Nico Rosberg was the first brave soul to take to the track in Free Practice 2, shortly after the mid-session, quickly followed by his teammate Michael Schumacher.

Nico Rosberg – 7th and 11th:
« Although it rained heavily, we learned a little about the car’s behavior today. We gathered some data on starts, balance, and tire temperature since you can always learn something in the rain. The weather conditions were very special but it was not dangerous as long as you drove slowly where the big puddles were. We expect a dry Sunday, which is why we didn’t take the risk of going out too often today. »
Michael Schumacher – 10th and 12th:
Coming to Spa this year is very special for me, especially with the honor of becoming an honorary citizen of Spa on Thursday, and I am looking forward to this weekend. Unfortunately, today’s weather did not allow us to do more than basic work since there was too much rain during both sessions. There was a lot of aquaplaning, even when cruising around the circuit, to the point where we sometimes couldn’t see at all, making it impossible to actually drive. But we have a lot of basic data for Spa and we know what to expect. Tomorrow’s tests will still be very important, especially since the weather is supposed to be much better. I am eager to drive again on this beautiful circuit tomorrow.
