Sunday: The Mercedes victims of their first stint

Starting respectively from 4th and 6th place, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg lost too much time in the first stint due to uncooperative Medium tires. A gap impossible to bridge despite a much better pace at the end of the race, leading to 6th and 7th positions.

Michael Schumacher – 6th:

« It was a fun race this afternoon, even though I must admit that after our performance on Friday, I had hoped to gain a bit more ground. I had a tricky first stint, but everything went well afterward and I got into the rhythm. I think we showed that we could be more competitive! Unfortunately, I ran out of laps, and if the race had been longer, I could have fought more. However, in the end, we did the best we could. We will now maintain this upward trend and everyone in the team will work tirelessly on this point. »

Nico Rosberg – 7th:

The 7th place this afternoon is an improvement compared to my previous results, so I am satisfied with what I did, even though it would have been possible to do better. I had no grip on my Medium tires during the first stint and they were the same ones I had for Q3. After the first pit stop, I had a very good pace and was able to set very fast laps and climb up the rankings thanks to some overtakes. It’s nice to have a good result here and I look forward to doing the same in Singapore in two weeks.
