French Grand Prix: The FFSA is reviewing the applications
It is today that the Circuit Paul Ricard, through its director Stéphane Clair, presents its case in Paris to the President of the FFSA Nicolas Deschaux, for the possible organization of a French Grand Prix.
This morning, in the FFSA office in Paris, Stéphane Clair, director of the Paul Ricard circuit, and Jacques Bianchi, representative of the GIP (Group of Public Interest) of the French Grand Prix F1 and also president of the CCIV (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Var), will present their proposal for organizing a French Grand Prix on the Castellet track.
Last week, representatives from the Magny-Cours circuit took the same approach with Nicolas Deschaux, President of the FFSA (French Federation of Automobile Sport). They received support from the Nièvre Department and the Burgundy Region, particularly in the project of reconstructing the stands and paddock.
The Paul Ricard circuit, on the other hand, has not managed to obtain the support of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, so it will be necessary to find other ways to convince the Federation.
In the event that a Grand Prix were to be organized in the near future, the Magny-Cours circuit seems to be the frontrunner so far. The Federation has not yet set a date to make its decision. The French Grand Prix has not appeared on the global Formula 1 calendar since the 2009 season.
